I am an artist, designer, maker living in Rapid City, SD with a love of moss on rocks, lichen in the forest, the beauty of the Black Hills, and a well-curated Pinterest board.
Originally from Scotland, I graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a BA (Honors) in Design for Textiles (Fashion, Interior, Art). While I still dabble with textiles occasionally, my current passions are mixed media, acrylic, watercolor, and jewelry making.
I’m inspired by textures and patterns found in nature and love to explore mark-making, mono-printing, mixed media, acrylic and watercolor. My favorite things are building up layers of paint, graphite, collage, and unexpected marks to create mixed media work. Through my work, I enjoy exploring the contrast between the organic unpredictability of paint and mark-making with the structure of geometric shapes that result in unique harmony.
My jewelry, also inspired by nature, features a mixture of gemstones, crystals, various metals, geometric elements, and natural motifs including birds, trees, and leaves; each piece is one-of-a-kind. In all my art, I relish the feeling of never really having control over what you are creating and I love to get lost in the process.
